Not Alone Series: Physical Affection

Linking up with Jen at Jumping in Puddles and Morgan at Follow and Believe.

Everyone has different ideas on physical affection and where their personal boundaries lie. What boundaries do you draw or expectations do you have for physical affection in romantic relationships? Have specific experiences led you to draw these lines?

Oh man. Big topic, Jen and Morgan!

Two things I want to share before answering: I've never been in a romantic relationship, and my primary love language is touch.

Seriously, Jessie is pretty much me.

Since physical touch is so important to me, I know that Mr. TDH and I will be discussing this in depth throughout our relationship. I want to honor both of us, glorify the Lord, and show affection without worrying about regrets later. That's it for me, really, because I don't think I can say I will or will not do a specific thing...too complicated! So glorify God while showing affection without regrets. Boom.

What do you think? Head over to Jen's for more posts on this topic!

  1. Hahaha, I just love your gifs Bek! Amen to this :-) While we can have ideas and such, and I do have ones that are important to me no matter what, the specifics really depend. Glorify God with no regrets, love it!

  2. Glad you enjoy them, Laura! :) The specifics for me are pretty personal, and some of them will depend on Mr. TDH, so I like focusing on the big picture :)

  3. Haha, Lindsay! Gifts is Greek to me, but several of my friends are gifts people, so I try and make an effort for them.
Oooh, sounds like a great testimony! Have you blogged about it? I'd love to read it!
Ahahaha!!! That is a FANTASTIC rule!!! :D

  4. So much of speaking love languages is making the effort for the benefit of others. I know some people just want a hug, but when I initiate a hug, that is a *huge* deal for me!

I have never written out my whole testimony. That's one of my goals for this year, actually. The elevator version is this: My mom's side of the family is Catholic; my dad's is not. When they got married, they agreed to raise their children Catholic, and to the best of their ability, they did. But we never really went to church. We did for a while when I started high school, and that was awesome. Soon after I started college, I ended a bad romantic relationship where I did some things I shouldn't have been doing. I needed to fill the hole in my heart, so I decided to try filling it with Jesus instead of a boy. I've never known the joy and peace I've found since then.

  5. SO true about the love languages! And I think if we care about the people in our lives, they are worth the effort :)

Your testimony is beautiful! Isn't Jesus awesome!
